Study Visit to the Czech Republic
As part of the “Locally Led – Action for Development of Goris Community” Project, on the initiative of the “Goris Press Club” NGO, representatives from various sectors of the Goris community embarked on a study visit to the Czech Republic to explore European practices in democracy, civic participation, inclusivity, education management, and local self-government.
During the visit, meetings were held with representatives of various non-governmental organizations and cultural institutions in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic.
The delegation also visited Palacký University in Olomouc, where approximately 25,000 students from 107 countries are enrolled. Discussions led to agreements on student exchange programs and the localization of educational initiatives.
In the Czech village of Slatinice, the group met with the community leader, Ondřej Mikmek. At 36 years old, he was a candidate for the European Parliament elections and, in 2022, earned the “Village of the Year” award for the Olomouc region. He shared insights into the community’s initiatives, the role of volunteerism in these efforts, and the experience of securing credit resources to fund development projects.
